Toms Cap is a small boutique vineyard situated in Central Gippsland and surrounded by the forests of the Strezlecki Ranges, the Ninety Mile Beach at Woodside and the natural flora and fauna of Tarra Bulga National Park. The property consists of 100 acres of rolling green paddocks with six acres of vines and forty acres of planted gums and pines. Close by is the Tarra Bulga National Park which is one of only four major areas of cool temperature rainforest in Victoria featuring lush moist gullies, giant mountain ash trees and beautiful tree ferns. The Cottages Experience the hospitality, tranquility and comfort of country life in absolute luxury. Set within 100 acres of vineyard, grazing and timber plantation, Toms Cap Cottages are an ideal retreat for those seeking a wealth of activities that are ready to awaken your senses, revitalize and reward you, or relax and let the world go by. Wildlife abounds, the birdsong is glorious, seek out the kangaroos, wombats, goannas and koalas on the farm. Toms Cap is situated at the eastern end of the Strezlecki Ranges in Central Gippsland. It is a joy to discover the rolling hills and forests, the brilliant night skies of winter with the occasional touch of snow on the higher nearby hills; the morning mists of budburst in spring and the beautiful lazy sunny afternoons of summer. Autumn is marked by the changing colour of the vine leaves and the occasional sighting of the sulphur crested black cockatoos, not to mention the many other varieties of bird life. The welcome swallows love nesting around the cottages awaiting your visit. Two Bedroom Spa Cottages These two cottages are situated at the top end of the vineyard between the Reisling and Sauvignon Blanc blocks and are surrounded by garden with each having verandahs with privacy guaranteed. The distinctive style of these cottages typifies the rustic Gippsland of old and features absolute luxury. Both have been designed to capture the tranquility of the bush and vineyard setting and to accomodate one or two couples with each having their own luxury private facilities. These two cottages are not suitable for children. Designed in a seperate wing of the main home are two bedrooms, an adjoining bathroom and seperate lounge with its own secluded verandah. This facility is now available. The Vineyard Graham and Ann commenced planting during 1992 and have expanded to 5 acres of vines. Our first vintage being our 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon. Our current plantings are: Cabernet Sauvignon Chardonnay Sauvignon-blanc Reisling All our vines are carefully hand pruned and our fruit hand picked to ensure maximum quality. All plantings are on grafted root stock to prevent disease. Irrigation is from our larger dam using solar powered pumps. All our wine is made from our own fruit. Winemaker - Owen Schmidt. Wine Selection All our wine is made from our own fruit, bottled, cellared and marketed by Toms Cap. Our wines are available cellar door, mail order and from selected liquor outlets. All wine is at cellar door prices. Sunday Princes Highway home The Grand Ridge Road Trip Travel along the Princes Highway to the vineyard on Friday afternoon or evening with home made pizzas and a glass of wine/beer for dinner. Saturday - Late start after gourmet breakfast - Wine tasting in our cellar - Visit to Woodside Surf Beach and historic Port Albert - Dinner in the evening Sunday - Early start - On to the Grand Ridge Road and a quick look at Tarra Bulga National Park and a coffee - Back on to the Grand Ridge Road and travel on top of the Strezlecki Ranges to Neerim South for a late lunch at the Grand Ridge Brewery. - Home via Warrigul and the Princes Highway The Horse & Jinker Experience For the horse lovers and the romantics who would like to clop away in the jinker. The vineyard is adjacent to the Mullungdung National Park that provides wonderful opportunities for either horse riding or travelling in the jinker. Explore and find Bullocky's Grave, the ruins of Goodwood, White Women's waterhole or find Toms Cap Lookout. Several options are available: - Half day ride - Full day ride with lunch provided and weather permitting, billy tea - Half day jinker ride for 2 guests - Full day jinker ride for 2 guests with lunch provided and weather permitting, billy tea Bookings for horse riding must be made at the time of arranging accommodation. Weddings Toms Cap Vineyard provides the perfect setting for that garden wedding to remember forever or for the wonderful vineyard style reception in our purpose built function centre. The Setting The garden surrounding the main home provides a truly beautiful setting for your wedding. The main lawn area and old oak tree with the path passing underneath has seen many vows exchanged, with views through to the vineyard. Seating can be provided for around 100 guests. Your Photos The lawns, trees, vines or even the cottage gardens provide limitless opportunities for your photographer to capture your wedding just the way you want it. Your Reception Our new reception centre opens onto the edge of the vineyard and has panoramic views over the vines to the adjacent hills through either the open or closed glass bi-fold doors. The centre has been purpose built to suit the environment and will ensure a memorable day for yourself and guests. Various meal and beverage packages are available. Conventions & Dinner Parties Conventions Our purpose built function centre is available for seminars, conventions, meetings etc and can cater for up to 100 people. The centre can provide a whiteboard and other facilities with catering available for morning/afternoon tea and light luncheons. The centre is fully air conditioned and is disabled friendly. Dinner Parties & Celebrations We cater for that special dinner party with our excellent menu combining local produce with our various specialities. If you are having a group function be it a birthday, work break-up or just a friends night out we can assist. Our catering options will accomodate most tastes and budgets.
